Hello friends and fellow Biologists. I want to thank you all for putting in the effort today to explore and expand your knowledge of the beautiful planet we live on and it's inhabitants. I hope this blog serves as a tool for furthering your knowledge of our world and as a means of education on such subjects like climate change and how it affects certain biomes. The world is a large place with thousands of plants, animals, and other organisms but I will focus this blog and the information in this blog specifically on the fish you see to the right. This fish belongs to a sub-species of fish called Rainbow Trout. It is know as The California Golden Trout and is the state fish of California.

Kern River and other habitats of the California Golden Trout

About 10,000 years ago three trout species developed in isolation of each other. One of the species of trout from isolation event produced California Golden Trout, the focus of this blog (Golden Trout Wilderness). This species of trout live and inhabit the southern portion of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Their habitat consists of high altitude streams and lakes. The California Golden Trout are a very specialized species because they live in a small geographical range. Not only is the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountain range sensitive to climate change but the streams, lakes, and rivers that the fish inhabit are also very susceptible to change in climate.
This blog is very important because it will discuss the potential threats to one of the most diverse regions of the world and it's specialist inhabitants. This blog will bring attention to the changes affecting the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and more specifically the changes affecting the California Golden Trout.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to read through this blog. I hope it is interesting, educational and inspirational.
Thank you and enjoy!
